Google – Talking crafts | 2019
In a context where voice assistants are giving a new form to the way we live at home, Talking Crafts wants to explore the synergies between technology and design. The arrival of intelligent devices has made it possible to use the voice to interact with objects at home. The Google Assistant, designed to be integrated into the home environment in a natural, effective, and harmonious way, fully represents this innovation.
Google asked the students of Domus Academy, an international design academy, that – under the guidance of architect and scientific director Fabio Novembre and during a 48-hour creative marathon – imagined how Google devices could integrate with the most familiar objects in our homes, increasing their functionality by giving them a voice. The winning projects were prototyped by four authoritative Made in Italy design brands: Bitossi, Driade, FontanaArte and Kartell to create “a first of its kind” piece.
